Victory for RTCC in Peter Wynne Memorial Trophy

ON Sunday 10/04/11, Riverstown Cricket Club played a match against Dublin XI at Riverstown Community Park for the Peter Wynne Memorial Trophy. The hosts won this entertaining encounter.

Saqib (captain, Dublin XI) won the toss and elected to bat first. Riverstown bowled well and bowled out the Dublin XI on 151 runs in 25 overs. Rizwan Siknader, Muhammad Usman and Azhar Hussain got 2 wickets and Qaiser Mahmood and Rashid Waseem got 1 wicket each.

In reply on 151 total, Riverstown didn't start well and lost their first wicket when Fred Symmons and Amir All were bowled by Imran. After this Azhar Hussain joined Rashid Waseem and played responsibly and so did Zahid Naeem.

In the last two overs, Riverstown need nine runs in 12 balls. Rizwan Sikander hit a 6 and ensured victory for Riverstown Cricket Club.

Rashid Waseem was declared best batsman of the match who scored 47 unbeatable runs. And Imaran of the Dublin XI was declared best bowler of the match who took 3 wickets.

Riverstown Cricket Club appreciate all the support and help of the Riverstown community, especially Martin Baker (Chairman, Riverstown Cricket Club), Malik Israr (President, Riverstown Cricket Club), Sean McDermott (Vice-president, Riverstown Cricket Club), Ivor Parkes, all the committee members of Riverstown Community Park and all the supporters whose help made it possible to get cricket established in the area.
